Dublin Airport Plans Inspire Memes and other Comic Reactions

June 1, 2022 by Michele Neylon Leave a Comment

Dublin Airport’s owners DAA will be grilled by the government later today about how they plan to mitigate the current issues facing passengers at the airport.

So what is the plan?

Apparently passengers will be triaged on arrival and only given access to the terminal building 3.5 hours in advance of longhaul flights and 2.5 hours before short haul ones.

Of course the concept of a “holding area” is leading to some quite amusing reactions on social media:

I would encourage all intending passengers in the holding pen to make sheep noises. It won't improve your plight one bit but it will make me laugh. And that's all that matters. #DublinAirport

Though my personal favourite is this one:

"Passangers who arrive too early for their flights will be asked to wait in a passenger holding area…"

You can read more about the plans here, here and here.

While it’s good that DAA are trying to fix the issues with the queues and delays at the airport relegating passengers to “holding areas” and “pens” isn’t going to be well received by most.
