Dublin Airport in Chaos

May 29, 2022 by Michele Neylon Leave a Comment

While Dublin Airport’s management might claim that they have taken steps to improve the situation for departing passengers they obviously have not done enough.

Today Dublin airport is trending on Twitter and for all the wrong reasons.

The lines to get into both terminals of the country’s main airport are snaking outside the buildings and back towards the car parks judging by photos and video posted on social media.

The airport’s own social media accounts are warning passengers that they are likely to miss their flights:

Due to significant queues inside the terminal for check-in, bag drop & security, passengers queueing outside the terminal may not make their flight & may need to contact their airline to rebook. We sincerely apologise for the obvious frustration and inconvenience this may cause.

The situation at the airport does not look good:

The airport’s website is currently reporting that security lines are under 40 minutes, however the site does not show that there’s a 2 to 3 hour delay to get into the actual terminal building!

Unfortunately it’s unlikely that this situation at the airport is going to be rectified overnight. And Dublin Airport is not alone in having issues with staffing for security. Amsterdam’s Schipol airport has been having issues for the last few weeks as well with KLM stopping sales of flights out of their home airport!
