Aer Lingus has released passenger traffic figures for April 2013.
The airline is reporting that their passenger numbers for the month are lower than for the same period 12 months ago. However the different dates for Easter may have contributed to the drop:
Total flown passenger numbers, including Aer Lingus Regional operations, decreased by 2.5% to 868,000 in April 2013 compared to April 2012. The negative variance year on year can be attributed to the timing of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend which fell at the end of March in 2013 but in the first week of April in 2012.
Bearing in mind the differences for Easter it’s hard to draw any conclusions on the basis of a single month.
The airline has announced several new routes and services so far this year.
