Podgorica Airport Small Yet Efficient

Podgorica is the capital of Montenegro, so its airport is quite a bit bigger than the Tivat, which is the only other airport in the country.

However Podgorica airport is still very small.

I’ve flown out of there once and it was quite an amusing experience.

The flight was at 7.30 on a Sunday morning, so I naturally assumed that I’d need to be there a couple of hours in advance. My local hosts assured me that getting their about an hour before the flight would be sufficient.

They were right.

When I arrived there around 6.15 am the checkin desk for Montenegro Airlines was open, but security and departures were closed!

Security was quick and easy. Of all the airports I’ve flown through over the years Podgorica probably wins the prize for efficiency, though this was probably helped by the fact that it was so early on a Sunday morning.

Once you get airside there’s a cafe and a duty free shop. There’s plenty of seating and I believe there is a small business lounge somewhere but I didn’t bother looking for it.
The airport offers free wifi everywhere, which is handy.

So as airports go Podgorica isn’t that bad.
